The Shops brings together publicly available information from several places. This page explains where the prices and product details come from, the licences behind the open data we use, and the retailer trademarks we identify.
Prices
Prices are sourced from publicly available retailer information for Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and Panetta, refreshed once a day. They can be out of date by up to 24 hours and may differ from what you see in store.
The price at the register is always the authoritative one. Please confirm at checkout, especially for fresh produce sold by weight.
Product information & photos
Nutrition, ingredients, and packaging details — and the product photos behind a scanned barcode — come from the Open Facts projects:
These are collaborative, open databases. Their data is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0) and their photos under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA 4.0).
If you choose to contribute photos from the app, they're added to Open Food Facts under the same licences — public, permanent, and credited to a single 'TheShops' account.
